GENERAL BLOW DRYING TIPS

DRYING YOUR HAIR WITH A CONCENTRATOR

Blow drying your hair with a concentrator is especially recommended for smoothing and shaping your hair.  It is also used to produce more volume from the roots.  In order to accomplish this you will need to do the following:

  • Pre-dry your hair with the hair dryer on the highest setting.  For drying, separate your hair into 2-inch wide sections.  Place a large round brush at the root of one of the sections.
  • Point the hairdryer with the concentrator at a 90-degree angle to the section and run the brush under it, beginning at the roots and working down to the tips.  Your hair dryer should now be set at medium.  Repeat the process several times to dry the section completely before moving on to the next section.
  • Finish by turning the ends under.

To set the hair style and achieve a longer-lasting effect, finish by blowing a "cool shot" through your hair.

DRYING YOUR HAIR WITH A DIFFUSER

To achieve maximum results using a  diffuser please do the following:

  • Dry your hair beginning at the roots and using circular motions, always moving in the same direction.  Use the diffuser with the hair dryer set at the lowest speed.
  • Continue drying, keeping the hairdryer at a 90-degree angle from the scalp.  This will lift the roots away from the scalp giving your hair volume.
  • Finish by drying the ends.

To set your hair style and achieve a long-lasting effect, finish by blowing a "cool shot" through your hair.

DRYING YOUR HAIR WITH A BRUSH

Hair stylist professionals agree that hair consumers should always use the highest quality brush possible when styling their hair.  Since hair is most fragile when wet, extra care should be taken when styling wet or damp strands. When possible:

  • Use a natural boar's bristle brush or similar.Remember that a paddle brush is for blow drying straight styles while a round brush is for encouraging bend, volume and texture.
  • Vary the size of the brush "head" according to how much hair you are working with and how loose or tight you want the look or texture.
  • When the goal is to blow dry straight,  use a good quality boar's bristle paddle style brush because it covers the most hair territory at one time and cuts down in drying time.
  •  When using a paddle brush,  you can work with "bigger individual sections" which should help you finish quickly.
